About Me

Katherine Green BA (Hons) MAR

My Story

My inspiration and desire to promote wellbeing, give back and care for people, stems from my childhood.

As a child, I grew up helping my parents care for my sister, who had Cerebral Palsy and was quadriplegic as a result. In order to help my sister, I would instinctively stretch her stiff muscles, tendons and ligaments - particularly her contorted hands, feet, curved spine and legs - based on what I had learned from my coaches in the gym (I was a national level gymnast) and my sister's physiotherapist. My sister always gave me a big smile as her way of communicating and we could see her tension and pain lift, if even for only a couple of hours which helped her breathe & sleep better too.

My first indirect encounter with Reflexology was in 1990, when my father received treatments aiming to alleviate a digestive system condition and he swore by it! Now, my father was very pragmatic - a scientist and a mathematician by profession - so for him to approve of this therapy, just never left my mind. Years later, still curious about Reflexology, I took a 6 week foundation course in London, to explore more and it was during my case study, that I saw some fascinating outcomes which validated my belief in this complementary therapy.

I then worked in the Middle East and travelled South East Asia, where Reflexology is available on nearly every street corner or mall. Citizens embrace complementary healthcare and natural remedies aswell as modern conventional medicine - they sit side by side and are equally respected. It has been an intrinsic part of their lifestyle and culture for centuries. Often families will teach their children Reflexology and body massage, so they can give each other, as part of daily life.

So, with these observations, I decided to obtain my professional reflexology qualification, as I strongly believe community based complementary healthcare provision and 'social prescribing' is the way forward in order to reduce long term costs to our wonderful and invaluable NHS system.

My vision is for every person to take accountability of their own wellness, seek help when necessary and openly be more body and mind aware. It is also very reassuring knowing that clinical trials and scientific research are continuing to validate this wonderful therapy, with more funding being granted.

My mission is to guide and support my clients at every stage of their health & wellness journey, in order to help them achieve relaxation, re-balance, and establish a healthier, happier, more abundant life.
